Industry and the economy are at a historical turning point, where it seems to be essential to avoiding squandering resources, regardless of whether they are economic, material, energy or time.
Ensuring the robustness and balance of the economic system requires resources to be saved and waste generation to be curbed. Therefore, a basic strategy in a Circular Economy framework consists of extending the useful life of products.
The debate about product durability is no longer new and the majority of consumers are already aware of the deliberate reduction of the useful life or planned obsolescence, along with its negative impact that it have on the environment and economically or socially.
Directly related to Ideas Notebook No. 5 "Durability" and to Ideas Notebook No. 6 "Planned Obsolescence", this notebook seeks to delve into how ecodesign is a useful tool to extend product durability.
