Projects

The Basque Ecodesign Center basically works on developing technical projects that position both the partner companies and their products and the other economic stakeholders of the Basque Country. There are three types of projects:

Individual projects of the partners

Each of the participating partners is going to work on different individual projects where the ecodesign principles are applied to its own activity. The aim is for those projects to become collaborative ones.

Collaborative projects

They are projects involving the collaboration of two or more partners of the Basque Ecodesign Center. In turn, the projects within this block are divided into those that are going to be implemented using own funds and those benefiting from additional funds by means of the support of European, State and Basque R&D&i programmes.

Methodological / core projects

There is an emphasis on systematically introducing “Life Cycle Thinking” in business decision-making for all the projects. The projects last for approximately 3 years and require great dedication by the participating company. The characteristics of those projects include:

  • Team work to analyse new challenges and opportunities. Ad hoc teams that analyse challenges and opportunities related to eco-innovative businesses, ecodesign and lifecycle assessment. The preamble of designing new projects.
  • Incorporating advanced expertise by means of support R&D projects of PhD students researching ecodesign.
