Assessment of environmental competitiveness in the watch reports
In order to have an exhaustive vision of the competitive activities of local companies and of the general trends of the business (which is also known as “Competitive Intelligence”, a specific module developing this concept in greater depth was introduced in the second edition of the Environmental Watch reports of the partner companies.
It performs an exhaustive comparative analysis of the environmental courses of action of the company analysed in terms of their direct competition and sectoral leaders worldwide. This study is conducted both from the perspective of the environmental courses of action in the company and regarding the different products and/or services that it offers. Therefore, a total of 21 variables are analysed in three sub-levels of actions:
- Measures applied. The possible courses of action implemented by the companies for the environmental improvement of their activity are listed in each area.
- Information transparency. Each improvement introduced can be communicated externally in a clear and transparent way by means of using different market instruments. Which of those instruments the assessed companies used are specified.
- External recognition obtained. The different environmental improvements introduced both in the company and in the different products and/or services that it offers can be recognised externally by agents of interest, stakeholders, public authorities or social movements. The recognitions obtained by the assessed companies are specified.
The assessment is performed based on public sources of information and official records and all the resulting information is summarised in a table as shown below.
Given the good result obtained by those studies, the information gathering will be improved and the total number of variables analysed will be extended when they are conducted in the future.
