What will the European Environmental Footprint do?

When it comes to discussing the various Environmental Footprint applications, they tend to vary in terms of product environmental footprints and organisation environmental footprints.

Product Environmental Footprint

In the case of the Product Environmental Footprint, its applications can also be grouped based on whether the study will be for reporting internally or externally. In the case of internal application, support can be given for environmental management, the determination of critical points from an environmental perspective, and environmental performance monitoring and improvement. For external applications, a wide range of possibilities are available. It could be applied to respond to clients and consumers, develop marketing actions or comparative evaluations between products (either a company's own, or those of a competitor), produce an ecological design for the entire supply chain, support ecological purchasing actions, or respond to European Union environmental policy requirements.

Organisation Environmental Footprint

Although applications continue to be internal and external, in the case of Organisation Environmental Footprints, key requirements for carrying out a study are slightly different in function of the application. On one hand, for internal applications, they may include environmental management assistance, the determination of critical points from an environmental perspective, environmental performance monitoring and improvements, and may even suppose savings opportunities. On the other hand, external applications cover a wide range of possibilities that include responses to investor information requests and responses to requirements proposed by European environmental policies and those of the various EU member states.
