Smart Neighborhood
The origin of a Smart City involves a twofold approach. The first includes the pre-existing cities willing to shift towards sustainability and the second is based on constructing the smart city from zero.
While the major limiting factor in the latter case is the natural environment and its resources, in the first case, apart from the natural environment, many of the predecessor infrastructures will entail different obstacles to be overcome.
In any event, the interventions are staggered in a new urban expansion or the regeneration of an existing neighbourhood.
Therefore, Smart Neighbourhoods have emerged which are noted for their sustainability within the intermediate scale of the city.
This level within the city must be appropriately integrated in it, in other words, it must continue the correct urban development (Smart Growth), as well as being adequately connected to the other neighbourhoods (Smart Mobility).
