Product Environmental Footprint
The Product Environmental Footprint is a multi-criteria measurement of the environmental performance of a good or service over the course of its life cycle.
Its general objective is to attempt to reduce the environmental impact of goods and services when taking supply chain activities into account (extracting raw materials, managing final waste, as well as production and use).
All product environmental footprints are based on certain Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR), which provide a detailed technical guide on how to carry out an Environmental Footprint study for a specific product category. The PEFCR complement the general methodological orientation for environmental footprints, providing more specifications on a product level, ensuring Product Environmental Footprint study reproducibility and coherence.
